TAsia-Oceanian Conference of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM)
The 6th AOCPRM Conference was held last November 21 to 25, 2018 at SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. There were more than 500 delegates with a wide spectrum of professional backgrounds, including physiatrists, surgeons, allied health professionals, speech language therapists, dietitians, social workers, rehabilitation network managers and coordinators, clinical psychologists, researchers, registrars, university lecturers, staff, and students collaborating to share knowledge and contribute to the advancement of rehabilitation medicine.

The conference included presentations from renowned international speakers, a scientific programme based on peerreviewed submitted abstracts, expert updates, and debates on current controversies in the practice of rehabilitation medicine. The Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (PARM) was represented in the conference by incumbent President Dr. Karen Belina F. de Leon, and AOCPRM President-elect Dr. Reynaldo R. Rey-Matias. During the conference, our PARM 1st Vice-President Dr. Filipinas G. Ganchoon shared about Disaster Rehabilitation in relation to our local Marawi experience. In attendance also were PARM members namely, Drs. Jose Bonifacio Rafanan, Kelvin Chan, Romil Martinez, Emily NocheCabungcal and Melecio Pena III.

Moving forward, we anticipate the 7th AOCPRM Conference, in conjunction with the 34th Annual Congress of the Korean Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (KARM), which will be held from April 23 to 26, 2020, at the International Convention Center, Jeju, Korea. With the theme “Innovative Rehabilitation in Asia-Oceania,” the diverse disciplines of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine from present to future will be highlighted. AOCPRM 2020, which will be led by the Congress Chair, Professor Moon Suk Bang, promises to be an exciting international festival for physiatrists to come together and learn from one another. A variety of unique and engaging social programs will provide the quality time for everyone to not only network and learn more about the dynamic country of Korea, but also to give us the opportunity to nurture friendships and celebrate achievements.

International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM)
Another upcoming international event is the 13th International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine World Congress (ISPRM 2019), themed as “Rehabilitation as the Cutting Edge of Medicine,” which will be held from June 9 to 13, 2019 at Kobe Convention Center in Japan. The Congress President will be Eiichi Saitoh, MD, DMSc of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and School of Medicine, Fujita Health University.
