From Papers to Practice

Last October 26-27, 2018, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine held its 18th Postgraduate course at the Diamond Hotel Manila with the theme “From Papers to Practice: Multidisciplinary Approaches to Common Clinical Scenarios”. A total of 170 participants attended the activity including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapist, speech therapists, nurses and psychologists. The course tackled common cases of back pain, stroke, knee pain and cerebral palsy. The discussion was joined by distinguished speakers from the fields of Orthopedics, Neurology, and Rheumatology. Rehabilitation management updates, on the other hand, were given by our own roster of renowned physiatrists namely, Dr. Josephine Bundoc, Dr. Monalisa Lim-Dungca, Dr. Gaerlan Inciong, Dr. Noel Nathaniel Napa and Dr. Carl Froilan Leochico. Lectures on novel rehabilitation interventions and techniques were also given by the Department’s paramedical staff.

In the afternoon, the Department held its Annual Interesting Case Presentation. Emerging as winners were Dr. Maria Corazon Riego-Pedro (1st Place), Dr. Isabella Supnet (2nd Place), and Dr. Jeremy Flordelis (3rd Place). The second day was dedicated to workshops on core strengthening, cognitive stimulation, postoperative wound care, and neurodevelopmental techniques.
